Grabbing filmgoers' attention using a mix of beauty, wit, and surprise

The most successful film posters do more than explain the narrative, they provide a simple, memorable visual that can live on long after the film’s opening weekend.

 

This was especially true for independent distributors like Cinecom, whose releases had minuscule ad budgets. As a case in point, my key art for Spalding Gray’s Swimming to Cambodia was so striking that Fine Line Features brought me in to create a thematically similar treatment for Gray’s next release, Monster in a Box.
